Compared to an ocean cruise ship which can hold thousands of passengers, a Heritage Line river cruise vessels have a maximum capacity for just 54 guests, ensuring a more intimate experience. The expert crew provides personal attention and will remember your name and preferences right from the start. It’s something that many guests have called a highlight of these journeys, although with the chance to get to know their fellow passengers who tend to be very like-minded. Sometimes lifelong friendships are formed during these cruises as it feels like traveling with friends or family after just a day or two out on the water. Heritage also provides an all-inclusive fare which means guests won’t have to spend much if anything while onboard. All meals, snacks, and even drinks are included. Wi-Fi comes free of charge too and is only rarely interrupted in some of the most remote corners of Southeast Asia.
Culinary services feature fresh dishes inspired by the destinations visited, served in an elegant restaurant with nearly 360-degree glass providing breathtaking views. Or, enjoy your meals alfresco. Either way, you can choose from a sumptuous buffet or a menu with Asian and European cuisine. Menus are multicourse featuring dishes made from high-quality local, regional, and international ingredients. All can be enjoyed with some of the top imported wines. On the top floor, you’ll find a lively bar in a sophisticated space for ordering a refreshing cocktail, wine, soft drinks, or fruit juices. It’s ideal for mingling while getting to know your fellow passengers. Additionally, cooking classes are available so you can learn how to make some of the local or regional dishes yourself.
The Heritage Line ships offer staterooms and suites that start at 323 square feet. All are spacious and have private balconies along with floor-to-ceiling windows and large bathrooms featuring walk-in showers. Standard amenities include a writing desk and chair, minibar, sofa-lounge area, individually controlled air-conditioning, Espresso machine, tea and coffee facilities, a safe, wardrobe, upscale bath products, slippers, and a hairdryer. Wi-Fi and an in-house phone are included too. The Signature Suites have nearly 400 square feet of space and add flat-screen TVs and movie entertainment systems. The Noble Suite is the highest category option. It includes a private furnished balcony (or two balconies on some ships) and an outdoor Jacuzzi, plus butler service and all of the standard amenities.
There are many ways to relax while traveling with Heritage Line. You’ll find a mosaic-tiled pool with comfy sunbeds for sunbathing and a whirlpool to soak in while gazing out at the magnificent surrounding scenery on the Sun Deck. The Apsara Spa has two treatment rooms and offers a menu that includes a variety of massage options for blissful relaxation. Guests can even choose from 20 different aromatherapy oils for a more personalized massage. Couples can take advantage of a full pampering session that includes a steam bath too. Of course, you can always relax in the comfort of your suite or stateroom, indoors or out from the balcony while enjoying the passing views.
Entertainment is low-key and typically designed to provide a cultural immersion into the destinations visited. There may be lectures given by experts on various topics related to where you’re traveling followed by Q&As. Classes in Tai Chi are frequently offered and you’re likely to enjoy live music such as a local band, singer, or dancers. An evening cinema provides the chance to catch a film and depending on the destination, you might enjoy a bonfire on the sand. Those who enjoyed a little friendly competition with board games will find the opportunity too.

Excursions: Selection of included excursions in every port of call including all transport and entrance fees. Some additional optional excursions are available for a fee and vary by itinerary and ship.
Food & Drink: Welcome drink, daily replenished espresso machines, brewed coffee & tea, mineral water, complimentary beverage package (on Lower Mekong itineraries with specialty coffee and soft drinks), daily full board meals with buffet breakfast and lunches, along with a la carte dinners and a daily afternoon tea. Once per 7 night cruise there will be a Barbecue Gala Dinner, one Riverbank Cocktail Party and one farewell party.
While onboard the ships, there is a relaxed dress code for general life and it is recommended to wear smart casual for dinner. Although not required, you can dress a bit more formal (such as evening gown or suit and tie) should you wish.
On land it is essential to bring clothing suitable for the climate, ideally breathable and loose items made of cotton or other natural materials. Please also bring comfortable, closed-toe walking shoes for off-shore excursions.
Depending on the time of year, it can become cooler at night in Northern Vietnam and Cambodia, so a pullover is also useful. While visiting temples, pagodas and other holy sites, you must wear suitable clothing that covers knees and shoulders.
All Heritage Line ships are equipped with a Wi-Fi network and free Internet access is offered in the public areas (and selected top suites). Please note that as Internet service uses a cellular network, while the 4G signal is strong in the lower Mekong River in Vietnam and Cambodia, it can be interrupted in remote corners of Southeast Asia.
The process of getting on and off river cruise ships, particularly when docked along side other ships, can cause issues for those passengers with walking difficulties.
There are no elevators on board Heritage Line ships.
Table reservations are not required while on board in the main restaurants, with their Mekong ships serving buffet breakfasts and lunches on a relaxed freestyle basis, and dinner on a la carte basis, but with open seating.
Once per cruise, a special Barbecue Gala Dinner is served on the sun deck, including entertainment.
Guests booked into Noble and Signature Suites will also access private dining in the Observatory Lounge once per cruise, with reservations required.
There is a laundry service on board for a fee, costs of which are provided in the staterooms. Guests in the premium suites can also take advantage of complimentary laundry services and butlers you look after your clothes and shoes.
Gratuities are not included on the cruise. There is a tip box in the main lobby area, in which you can leave a group tip for all staff and crew on the day that you disembark. We recommend an amount of roughly $30-40 per day, which would be divided up amongst all staff.
If there are any guides or crew members that you have especially appreciated, we recommend individual tips of around $5 per day.
