Why we chose Variety
Simon
Cruise Specialist
We chose Variety as we know our guests will be impressed with the unique itineraries that bring the chance to explore captivating destinations while straying off the beaten path while still covering those bucket-list places. At the same time, you’ll enjoy luxurious modern comforts. This cruise line provides personalized experiences you won’t get on a big cruise ship, with a warm, friendly and hospitable crew. In many cases, certain excursions are included in the total price bringing the opportunity to immerse yourself in the natural beauty, history, and culture at every port of call. The small boutique ships provide a private environment with enticing spaces for relaxing as well as getting to know your fellow passengers. There are destinations across Europe, including Greece, Italy, and Malta. Just imagine accessing secluded beaches that can be enjoyed practically all to yourself as they’re only accessible by a small ship, there’s really nothing like it.
Life on board a Variety ship
Fine Cuisine
If you’re looking for exceptional dining experiences, Variety is a great pick. This line is renowned for its gourmet fare, sourcing fresh, local ingredients, often from destinations visited while talented chefs craft culinary masterpieces showcasing regional flavors. Variety has committed to gastronomic excellence, ensuring guests can enjoy a diverse range of delectable dishes. Typically, breakfast is buffet-style with a sumptuous spread of hot-and-cold items like pancakes, bacon, sausage, hash browns, smoked salmon, an assortment of fresh, local fruits, cheeses, and cereals, along with a variety of pastries, prepared fresh by the onboard pastry chef. Lunch is also a hot-and-cold buffet with the occasional beach BBQ included while dinner includes an appetizer, soup, main course, cheese course, and fruit or dessert.
Luxury accommodation
Variety features a fleet of eight boutique ships, each of which accommodates around 50 guests. Across the fleet, cabins have portholes or windows, twin or queen beds, and private bathrooms with showers, hairdryers, and branded toiletries. High-end suites come with marble bathrooms. Individually controlled air-conditioning, robes, flat-screen TVs, DVD players, safes, and Wi-Fi (for an additional fee), all come standard. Square feet and other details differ depending on the ship. For example, the three-masted Panorama has 25 cabins that are spread across the upper, main, and lower decks, and all are outside cabins. Those on the lower deck have portholes while the others include windows. They range in size from 115 to 135 square feet.
Total Relaxation
On Variety, you’ll find spaces for relaxation while marveling at the surrounding scenery, including comfortable loungers and Balinese sun beds, providing the perfect way to bliss out. That said, if you’re looking for a bit more pampering, there are two ships that offer some spa services. Pegasus and the Variety Voyager both have mini-spa suites. On the Lower Deck of Pegasus, there is a 200-square-foot spa where guests can indulge in massages and facials along with beauty services, including manicures and pedicures. Voyager’s Lower Deck includes a single treatment room staffed by a therapist offering a sauna, and massage services along with face, hair, and nail treatments. Swimming off the ships is also possible, providing more relaxation while soaking up the scenery.
Entertainment
Like all small-ship cruises, there are no elaborate productions, but Variety does ensure that guests’ time onboard is filled with entertainment. Cultural performances might immerse you in the local customs of the region, and you might spend evenings dancing to live music. For example, on a cruise through Greece, a Greek restaurant manager has been known to provide a quick Greek dance lesson. Sometimes a talented staff member will play the piano, and karaoke nights and DJs are occasionally hosted too. Depending on the voyage, a knowledgeable naturalist might offer lectures on the area’s wildlife and culture. Various lecturers may be onboard, from professional photographers offering tips on travel photography to those who have specific expertise about a destination.
