Elevators from the Future: Lift AI, Southern Elevator, & Intelevator Partner Up

A new partnership results in the deployment of 400 IoT elevators across USA

Elevators from the future have arrived in the present. On 10 April 2023, Southern Elevator, an independent elevator maintainance company operating in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia, announced a partnership with Lift AI and Intelevator, with the promise of installing 400 smart elevators in the region. The expertise of Lift AI in crafting SaaS applications capable of utilizing their IoT and partner data is brought to life, and effect, through Southern Elevator.

Lift AI’s custom hardware enables the elevator to establish a connection with a controller using a Wi-Fi interface. In the event of a change in signal, the technology suggests a repair, or initiates preventative maintainance. Aside from adhering to safety protocol, smart elevators monitor traffic flows, reduce servicing interruptions, offer mobile connectivity, and collect usaer data to lower waiting periods.

As exciting opportunities brighten the future of the mobility industry, Joe Jensen, the Vice President of Strategy and Integration at Southern Elevator exclaimed, “what we are building [...] is going to revolutionize the elevator industry and I am thrilled to be part of this project”.

According to the CDC, elevators result in the death of 30 people annually. Smart elevators underscore safer mobility, made accessible to American citizens through Southern Elevator’s local clientelle. “Our partnership with Lift AI to incorporate Intelevator data insights will allow Southern Elevator to greatly enhance the quality of our service delivery to our maintenance customers. By combining our industry experience from over the past seventy-four years with Lift AI’s advanced technology we can transparently deliver the level of targeted service that our customers expect and deserve”, stated Christopher Short, the president of Southern Elevator.

By the end of 2023, the partnership aims to deploy 1000 elevators, with further expansion plans for next year. Even though elevators, let alone smart elevators, are a privilege enjoyed by few, the partnership bridges the global and local, illuminating technology’s massive potential to improve our daily life.
