The Dutch Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) platform, uMob, has secured a substantial €6 million investment from a consortium of investors, marking a significant step forward in the transformation of urban transportation. uMob's pioneering platform seamlessly integrates shared mobility options, taxi services, and popular public transportation alternatives, including Felyx and Go Sharing bikes, all accessible through a user-friendly app. This funding round comes on the heels of a €2 million raise in 2022, coinciding with the platform's highly anticipated launch.
The injection of fresh capital is poised to elevate uMob to a leading position in the effort to enhance the accessibility and attractiveness of alternative mobility choices beyond private vehicles. With an eye on European expansion, uMob is set to make a substantial impact on the way people engage with and utilize a diverse array of transportation modes.
Founded in 2021 by industry veterans Raymon Pouwels and Bibi Jorissen, uMob is headquartered in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and is driven by a mission to assist municipalities in orchestrating and promoting the adoption of shared transportation solutions. uMob's approach involves close collaboration with municipalities, service providers, and businesses, playing a pivotal role in identifying optimal mobility hub locations, fostering provider dialogues, and facilitating seamless data exchange.
The platform offers users access to a multitude of transportation options, spanning public transit, taxis, and shared modes like scooters, bicycles, and cars, all accessible through a unified account. The recently introduced uMob app, available on Android and iOS devices, consolidates various travel choices within the Netherlands into a single, user-friendly platform. It empowers users to seamlessly plan, book, and complete their journeys through a single app, eliminating the need to navigate multiple provider applications. In addition to public transit and taxi services, the app brings together all shared transportation options for the ultimate in user convenience.
Raymon Pouwels, co-founder of uMob, emphasized the importance of offering an accessible alternative to private transportation, a significant contributor to pollution, traffic congestion, and overflowing parking lots.
